1

Fix the feed first

Titles, GTINs and prices rewritten to win the auctions that matter.

2

Split by margin

Hero products, mid-margin and clearance never share one bid.

3

Scale money products

Budget flows to the products that actually profit.

How Shopping actually works

Your feed is the campaign.

Google writes Shopping ads from your product data, not your ad copy. Worth understanding before you put a dollar into it.

Your catalogProducts, prices, stock

Shopping auctionGoogle matches queries

Availability

There is no keyword targeting in Shopping. Google matches searches to your feed data, so titles, GTINs, images, price and availability decide which auctions you enter and what you pay in them.

Honest fit check

Shopping is not for every store. Here is the straight answer.

The channel rewards real catalogs and clean data. Check your column before you hire anyone, including us.

Shopping earns its budget when…

A real product catalog, in stock
Margin data available per product
Clean tracking with real order values
Prices that can win a comparison

Skip Shopping when…

Services or lead gen, nothing to feed
Catalog mostly disapproved or out of stock
No access to the feed or Merchant Center
Prices far above every competitor

Second column? We say so on the audit call and point you to what fits, usually Search or a feed cleanup first. That honesty costs us a sale and saves you a quarter of wasted spend.

The guardrails

Six controls on every Shopping account we run.

Default Shopping settings spend evenly on your whole catalog, winners and dead weight alike. These stay on from day one.

ON

Feed optimization first

Titles rewritten to match how buyers actually search.

ON

Priority tiers + negatives

Query funnels send each search to the right bid.

ON

Margin-based campaign split

Hero products, mid-margin and clearance never share one bid.

ON

Disapproval and price monitoring

Alerts when products drop out or get out-priced.

ON

Brand vs generic separation

Cheap brand demand never inflates generic results.

ON

Budget caps and staged scaling

Measured lifts. No resets, no runaway spend.

Also standard: supplemental feeds, custom labels, promotions and ratings setup, search-term mining and landing-page alignment. None billed as extras.

How we run it

Audit to scale, with nothing hidden.

The sequence every Shopping engagement follows. Feed first, always.

What we report

Numbers that map to profit.

Shopping dashboards love clicks and blended averages. We report per-product numbers your P&L recognizes, every month.

ROAS by product

Return on ad spend per product and product group, not one blended number.

Why it matters: averages hide losers. Product-level ROAS shows exactly what to scale and what to cut.

Wasted-spend %

The share of budget going to queries and products that never convert.

Why it matters: hunted down weekly with negatives and exclusions. Less waste, more budget for winners.

Product-level profit

Revenue minus ad cost and product cost, wherever margin data allows.

Why it matters: a 4x ROAS on a thin-margin product still loses money. Profit is the real scoreboard.

Impression share on money products

How often your best sellers actually show when buyers search for them.

Why it matters: reveals whether budget or bids are capping the products that pay for everything else.

Feed approval rate Share of the catalog approved and actually serving.
Brand vs generic split How much revenue came from searches you would win anyway.
Price competitiveness Where your prices sit against the rest of the auction.
Search-term quality The queries each product matched, and what we negated.
Metrics we do not celebrate. Impressions, clicks, CTR and Google’s “optimization score” look great in screenshots and pay no bills. We show them for context and never optimize your budget toward them.

FAQ

Shopping questions we get a lot.

Do you need access to our Merchant Center and feed?
Yes: Merchant Center, Google Ads and your ecommerce platform or feed source. Most of the win lives in the feed, so we cannot do the job without it. Everything stays in your accounts, and we never touch billing without you.
Standard Shopping or Performance Max?
Both have a place. Standard Shopping gives you product-level control and clean reporting; PMax extends reach but hides detail. We usually start with Shopping for control, then test PMax once the feed and data have proven out.
Half our products are disapproved. Can you fix that?
Usually, and it is often the first week of work. Most disapprovals trace to missing GTINs, mismatched prices or policy flags in the feed, all fixable. Disapproved products earn nothing, so this comes before anything else.
Is there a minimum catalog size?
No hard number. A five-product store and a five-thousand-SKU store both work; only the structure changes. Stock, margin and prices that can win a comparison matter far more than SKU count.
How long until we see results?
Feed fixes and approvals show impact within the first weeks. Efficiency compounds over one to two months as query data accumulates and bids follow profit. We judge on trend, not on day 10.
What if our prices are higher than competitors?
We tell you before spending your money. Shopping shows your price next to rivals, so a losing price loses no matter who manages the account. Sometimes the answer is a margin-based subset of the catalog, sometimes it is fixing price first.
