SEO that pays: rank for buyers, not traffic

Prem Jasuja By Prem Jasuja, Founder · 8 min read · August 2026

Plenty of businesses rank for thousands of keywords and still get almost no customers from SEO. The reason is simple: they optimised for traffic, not buyers. A page that pulls 5,000 visitors who will never purchase is worth less than one that pulls 50 who are ready to. Good SEO is not a numbers game, it is an intent game.

Here is how we build organic search that actually produces revenue, the same approach behind our SEO service.

Traffic is a vanity metric. Qualified pipeline is the only one that pays the bills.

Step 1: Map keywords to intent, not volume

Every search sits somewhere on a spectrum from "just curious" to "ready to buy." Informational queries ("what is performance max") build awareness; commercial and transactional queries ("google ads agency for saas", "hire ppc consultant") are where money is. Most businesses chase the big-volume informational terms and ignore the smaller, boring, high-intent ones that convert.

The smartest shortcut: build SEO on the keywords your paid ads already prove convert. If a term drives sales in Google Ads, ranking for it organically is money you stop renting. That is exactly what our keyword research is built to find.

Step 2: Match the page to the search

Google rewards the page that best answers the query. A buyer searching "meta ads management" wants a service page with proof and a clear next step, not a 3,000-word explainer. An informational searcher wants the explainer. Mismatch the two and you will not rank, or you will rank and not convert.

1

On-page that earns the ranking

Give each page one primary keyword and one job. Put the term in the title, the H1, the first paragraph and naturally through the body. Add clear headings, internal links to related pages, and a decisive call to action.

How: one intent per URL, descriptive title under 60 characters, and internal links that pass authority to your money pages. More on our content SEO page.
2

Technical foundations that let content win

The best content cannot rank on a slow, un-crawlable site. Fix indexation, site speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile rendering and clean architecture first, so your content has a foundation to stand on.

How: audit against Google Search Central and Core Web Vitals. See our technical SEO service.
3

Content built around topical authority

Google trusts sites that clearly own a topic. Instead of scattered posts, build clusters, a strong pillar page linked to focused supporting articles, all interlinked. This blog is part of that: each post links to the service it supports and to related reading.

How: pick the topics that map to what you sell, build a pillar plus supporting posts, and interlink them deliberately.

Step 3: Show up in AI search, not just blue links

Buyers increasingly start in Google's AI Overviews and in tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Ranking is no longer enough, you want to be the source the AI quotes and recommends. That means clear, structured, factual content and strong entity signals. We treat this as its own discipline: answer engine optimization for AI Overviews, and generative engine optimization for being recommended inside AI answers.

Before you write another blog post

  • Does this target a keyword a buyer would actually search?
  • Does the page format match the intent behind that search?
  • Is it linked to and from the related money page?
  • Could an AI quote a clear, factual answer straight from it?

The compounding payoff

Paid traffic stops the moment you stop paying. SEO built on buyer intent compounds: rankings hold, content keeps working, and the keywords your ads proved out become a channel you own. Pair it with clean conversion tracking and you can finally prove which organic pages produce revenue, not just traffic.
